The Power of Being Pardoned

“From Death to Life through JESUS CHRIST”

Ephesians 2: 1-10

Sin makes us dead to GOD, but grace makes us dear to GOD. If you don’t have a personal relationship with JESUS you are a “dead man walking,” facing a certain doom to hell separated from GOD for eternity. Having JESUS is life, but not having JESUS is death, it’s just as simple as that. The life we are living now is just a training ground for what we will be doing in the next, which is why it is so important to get it right with JESUS in the present.

Our Diagnosis Was Death Through Sin

In Ephesians 2:1-3, Paul wrote to the believers in CHRIST, acknowledging their past before being saved through faith in JESUS. It was his diagnosis of the human condition without JESUS CHRIST, focusing on three influences: the world, the devil and the flesh. He highlighted that they were dead because of sin, fighting against GOD, following the ways of the world and obeying the devil. He also added that they were all ruled by the selfish desires of their bodies and minds, making GOD angry, leading them to an inevitable punishment like everyone else.

Our Remedy Is Grace Through Christ

GOD’s remedy for our dilemma, being dead to rights, is life through JESUS CHRIST written in Ephesians 2:4-5. Paul states that even though we were dead because of our sins, GOD was merciful. HE made a way for us to be alive through HIS SON JESUS because HE loved us so much. HIS grace is what saved us.

God’s Plan For Us-To Represent Him and Rule With Christ

Paul talks about our exaltation and future role with JESUS (Ephesians 2:6-7), stating that GOD has given us a place beside CHRIST in heaven. This is proof that GOD not only wants us to be with HIM, but HE also wants us to actively work with HIM in supporting HIS kingdom. Everyone who belongs to JESUS has been shaped to shine for HIS glory. GOD saved us to serve, not to sit. What GOD did through HIS SON shows us how good HE is to us. HE wants us to play a part in HIS grand scheme of life, which shows even more how much HE truly loves us and that we are valuable to HIM.

His Grace and Mercy Is The Believer’s Privilege

Paul concludes by saying that we are all saved by faith in GOD who treats us much better than we deserve. GOD’s mercy and grace is something that we can never earn. What the LORD did for us is something that we could have never done on our own. GOD always had it in HIS plans for us to do good things and live the way HE always wanted us to. He sent JESUS to make us what we are, the children that GOD always wanted us to be (Ephesians 2:8-10).

If you are a true believer in CHRIST, remembering what you once were before you were saved serves as a reminder of how good GOD has been to you. Being saved through faith in JESUS and remaining in HIM is the only way to be exempt from the sure punishment of an eternal death. When we sinned we deserved death because that is the penalty for sin. GOD didn’t want to give us what we deserved, instead He gave us what we didn’t deserve-another chance to be with HIM. GOD’s mercy and grace is the reason why having life is even possible. GOD loved us so much that HE gave HIS only son, so that whoever believes in HIM will not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16). Even though being saved through JESUS gives you life, having life is not the main focus for true believers. Being with JESUS is our prize! Knowing that JESUS loves you so much that HE died for you and wants you to be with HIM is the greatest motivation to someone who believes in HIM.

You Must Believe

If you are not a believer in JESUS CHRIST, make the choice to believe in HIM today. Tomorrow is not promised. One thing is for sure, that we all will die one day and our souls will end up in heaven or hell for eternity. GOD promised that those who have HIS SON have life and those who do not have HIS SON do not have life (1 John 5:12). Will you choose the life in JESUS? The choice is yours.
