For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
15 My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.
16 Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. -Psalm 139:13–16

Before you ever took your first breath, God knew you. Before anyone spoke your name, He had already written purpose into your life, no matter how you got here. You are not an accident. You are not random. You are not a mistake. You are wonderfully made, and purposefully placed – by God.

Think of a jigsaw puzzle. Each piece is unique — shaped differently, marked by distinct colors and edges. On its own, a single piece may not reveal much. But when placed exactly where it belongs, it helps reveal a beautiful, complete picture.

That is how God designed His people.

You have been created not only as a unique work of God, but as someone who fits together with other believers to reflect His image in the world. Together, we are being shaped to look, think, and act like Christ.

Ephesians 2:8–10 tells us we are saved by grace through faith — not by our works — but then it adds something powerful: we are “created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” God saved you so that you could step into the purpose He had already prepared for you.

He knew your calling before you were born.

The first part of that calling is something every believer shares: to be with Him. To belong to Him. To walk with Him. To know Him. Before you do anything for God, you are invited to be with God. Fellowship comes first.

The second part of your calling is how you serve Him — and this is where your uniqueness matters. God has woven natural abilities into your personality. He has allowed life experiences — joyful and painful — to shape you. He has also given spiritual gifts through His Spirit to equip you. All of these things have happened to make you into the unique being you are, capable of doing what only you can do the way you do it.

Like puzzle pieces, we are not meant to compare shapes. We are meant to fit where He places us.

Perhaps your experiences have revealed compassion in you. Perhaps leadership. Creativity. Hospitality. Encouragement. Perseverance through hardship. These are not accidents. They are clues.

God once spoke through Jeremiah saying He had plans for His people — plans rooted in His purposes. The same God who holds history holds your story. And He invites you to discover what He has already designed.

Today, draw closer to Him. Ask Him to deepen your fellowship. Ask Him to show you the gifts He has placed within you. Ask Him for a willing spirit — not resistant, not fearful, but ready.

You are wonderfully made.
You are purposefully saved.
And you are perfectly placed.

God’s  picture is not complete without you.

Father,

Thank You for creating me with intention. Thank You for forming me, knowing me, and ordaining my days before I ever lived one of them. Help me to believe that I am wonderfully made — not by accident, but by Your loving design.

Draw me closer to You. Before I seek to serve You, teach me to be with You. Deepen my fellowship with You through Your Word and through prayer. Let my heart grow more attentive to Your voice.

Show me the abilities You have woven into my life. Help me see how my experiences — even the hard ones — have shaped me for Your purposes. Reveal the spiritual gifts You have given me as Your child, and teach me how to use them faithfully.

Guard me from comparison with others. Give me a willing spirit — eager to live out the calling You have prepared for me. Place me where I fit in Your design, and let my life reflect Christ clearly.

Use me for Your glory.

In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
