Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?”
And I said, “Here am I. Send me!” -Isaiah 6:8
In Isaiah 6, the prophet is given a breathtaking vision of the Lord — high and exalted, seated on His throne, holy beyond comparison. Overwhelmed by God’s glory, Isaiah becomes painfully aware of his own unworthiness. Yet instead of pushing him away, God cleanses him. A burning coal touches his lips, and his guilt is taken away.
Then comes a question from the throne of heaven:
“Whom shall I send? And who will go for Us?”
And Isaiah responds with words that have echoed through history:
“Here am I. Send me.”
That moment captures the heart of God.
God desires to reach the world. He always has. He wants people everywhere to know Him — to be forgiven, restored, and welcomed into His family. He sent Jesus to make salvation possible. Through Christ’s life, death, and resurrection, the way has been opened.
And now, as Jesus declared in Matthew 28:18–20, all authority in heaven and on earth belongs to Him — and He sends His followers to “go and make disciples of all nations.”
God has the plan.
God has the power.
And remarkably, He has chosen the personnel — us.
The question is not whether God is able. The question is whether we are willing.
Notice something beautiful in Isaiah’s story: God does not coerce him. He does not assign him without invitation. He asks. “Whom shall I send?”
The holy God of the universe invites human participation.
Isaiah could respond because he had first encountered God’s holiness and received God’s cleansing. Service followed salvation. Mission flowed from mercy.
The same is true for you.
God has saved you because He loves you. He has forgiven you, restored you, and brought you near. But part of the reason He has done this is so that you can share that love with others — so that they too can discover what you have found.
Think about the people around you. Family members. Friends. Coworkers. Neighbors. Some are searching. Some are hurting. Some have never truly understood who Jesus is or what He has done for them.
And God says, “Whom shall I send?”
He could write the message in the sky. He could send angels to proclaim it. But instead, He calls ordinary people whose lives have been changed by grace.
He calls you.
Perhaps that feels overwhelming. Isaiah felt undone before he felt ready. But remember — the God who calls is the God who cleanses. The Christ who commands is the Christ who promises, “Surely I am with you always.”
You are not sent alone.
Today, listen. In the quiet of your heart, ask God to help you hear His voice. Ask Him to show you where He may be sending you — across the street, across the office, across the classroom, or across the world.
You do not need to have every answer. You simply need a willing heart.
God is still asking, “Whom shall I send?”
God is calling. Answer the call!!!
Prayer
Father,
You are holy, glorious, and worthy of all praise. Thank You for cleansing me through Jesus. Thank You for loving me, saving me, and bringing me near.
I hear You calling: “Whom shall I send?”
And honestly, I feel both willing and afraid. I know I am not perfect. I do not have all the answers. But I am grateful for what You have done for me, and I want others to know that same love.
Here I am, Lord.
Take my life — my time, my voice, my abilities, my relationships. Use me in the places You have already planted me. Give me courage to speak when You prompt me. Give me compassion for those who are far from You. Give me wisdom to represent You well.
I offer myself to You as a living sacrifice. Lead me. Send me. Walk with me.
Here am I.
Send me.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
